Description
A 36-inch blade reaches about twelve inches of pavement. Past that you are either making a second pass from the other side or you are not doing the job. Full-depth removal, deep trench boundaries and bridge-deck cut-out all live above that line, which is where a road saw blade starts.
Sized by the depth you actually need
No diamond blade should be buried much past a third of its own diameter. That makes the choice arithmetic rather than preference: a 42″ blade reaches roughly 14″, a 48″ about 16″ and a 54″ around 18″. Work back from the slab or pavement thickness on the drawing, then order the blade that clears it in one pass.
Built for the machine, not the operator
Blades this size belong on high-horsepower flat and road saws, where the machine carries the blade into the cut under its own weight and the load never lets up. Run wet without exception — at this diameter a dry pass or an interrupted water feed will cup the core, and a cupped blade of this size is scrap, not a repair.
