Description

Block is soft, brick is fired hard, and both are abrasive enough to destroy a blade formulated for concrete. Put a concrete blade into CMU and it wears from the matrix outward — the bond gives up long before the diamonds do, and an expensive blade is finished inside two weeks of block work.

Hard bond for soft material

This blade uses a hard bond, which is the correct choice for soft and abrasive material even though it reads backwards the first time you hear it. Abrasive block strips the matrix away quickly; a harder matrix resists that erosion and keeps each diamond anchored for its full working life. The segmented rim runs wide gullets to clear the coarse, fluffy dust that block and brick throw off and that would pack a turbo rim solid.

Sizes and use

Stocked in 7″, 10″, 12″ and 14″ — the small sizes for a bench-mounted masonry saw, the larger two for a gas or electric cut-off saw. Typical jobs: cutting CMU to course on a block wall, chasing a conduit run, or opening a doorway through a partition.

Dry rated. On a table saw with a water tray it will run wet quite happily and the cut edge comes out cleaner. If your work is mostly pavers and face brick rather than block, the turbo-rim Paver & Brick Blade leaves a smoother edge. See all masonry and block blades.
