Description
The point at which handheld sawing stops paying is easier to spot than most crews admit. Once you are cutting more than a few dozen feet in a straight line, or once the cut needs to be genuinely square through a slab, a walk-behind saw finishes faster, straighter and with far less operator fatigue — and it does it in one pass instead of three.
Where a mid-size floor saw fits
The FS305 sits in the range most general and municipal contractors actually need: substantial enough for control joints, trench cuts and slab openings, small enough to get through a gate, into a car park deck, or onto a trailer without specialist transport. It is the size that gets bought when a contractor is bringing sawing in-house for the first time.
Setting up the cut
Blade diameter is a depth decision — a third of diameter per pass is the working limit — so choose the blade to the depth the job needs rather than to the machine’s maximum. Fit water before the first cut; a floor saw run dry ruins blades fast and puts silica in the air for nothing.
