Description

The useful thing about the DM230 is that it does not force the choice between handheld and rig up front. Run it in the hands for small penetrations in masonry, mount it on a stand for anything larger or anything reinforced, and one motor covers both patterns of work — which for a contractor whose coring is occasional rather than constant is the whole argument.

When to go handheld, and when not to

Handheld is for small diameters in block, brick and masonry, where the reaction torque stays manageable and a slightly imperfect line is acceptable. Everything else belongs on a stand. Larger barrels generate torque that will twist a machine out of an operator’s hands the moment the crown catches, and reinforced concrete catches without warning.

Setting up

  • Drill wet for cured concrete and anything with steel in it.
  • Start the hole true — use a pilot bit handheld, or anchor a DS150 stand for rig work.
  • Check the thread matches your barrels before ordering bits — see the thread guide.
  • Ease off on steel. Forcing the feed is what strips segments.

Barrels are in wet core bits.

Motor power, maximum bit diameter handheld and rig-mounted, spindle thread and weight are published by Husqvarna and available from us on request.
