Description
Thick mastic, old thinset, tar residue, elastomeric coating — the sort of material that gums a turbo wheel up in thirty seconds and then rides on top of it. Removing that is a different job from grinding concrete, and it needs a wheel with a genuinely aggressive bite.
Two rows of segments, and a much bigger gap
The double-row layout puts two concentric rings of diamond segments on the face with wide open channels between and around them. That open area is the point: it gives soft, stringy material somewhere to eject rather than smearing across the face. The trade-off is honest — a double row leaves a coarser scratch pattern than a turbo wheel, so it is a first-pass tool. Where a floor has to end up smooth, follow it with a turbo wheel or a polishing pad.
Sizes and use
Three sizes: 4″, 5″ and 7″, threaded for an angle grinder, medium bond, dry rated. Let the wheel’s own weight do the work. Pressing a double row into a coating generates heat that softens the material further and makes loading worse rather than better.
