Description
Core drilling is the one trade where hiring the kit in and buying it outright are genuinely close on cost, and the calculation turns on how many holes a year you drill. Past roughly a dozen jobs, owning wins — and owning means the motor, the stand and the barrels together, because any one of them missing stops the work.
What is in the package
- Husqvarna DM230 core drill motor — usable handheld or mounted on a rig.
- Husqvarna DS150 drill stand — anchors the motor and holds the alignment.
- Three DOT Wet Core Bits — segmented crowns for cured and rebar-reinforced concrete.
Why the stand is the part that matters
Anything much above 3″ in diameter, or anything through a structural slab, wants to be drilled from a stand. The stand holds the barrel perpendicular and takes the reaction torque that would otherwise be fighting the operator’s wrists, which is what produces a straight hole and what prevents the barrel from binding and stalling. Handheld work is for small penetrations in masonry.
Drill wet, anchor the stand properly, and ease off the feed the moment the crown meets steel. Diameter and thread compatibility are covered in our sizing and thread reference; more barrels under wet core bits.
Motor output, stand capacity and maximum bit diameter are stated on the manufacturer’s data sheets.
