Description
Cutting and grinding concrete puts three hazards in front of an operator at once, and they arrive together: respirable silica dust, high-velocity fragments, and hands close to a spinning rim. This kit covers the basic personal protection for that work in one part number, so a new hand can be equipped on day one instead of next week.
What is in it
- Cut-resistant gloves — for handling blades, cores and freshly cut edges as much as for operating the saw.
- Safety glasses — impact-rated eye protection against spoil and segment fragments.
- Dust mask — respiratory protection for cutting and grinding tasks.
Where this fits in a silica plan
Be clear about what PPE does and does not do. Under OSHA’s silica standard, respiratory protection is the last line, not the first. The controls that matter are engineering controls — water at the blade or on-tool dust extraction — and the mask supplements them. A mask alone on a dry-cut task does not put you inside Table 1.
Respirators also need to fit. Facial hair at the seal line defeats a tight-fitting mask entirely, whatever its rating. Pair this kit with a pressurised water bottle and you have both halves of the job covered.
