Description
Look at the core of a blade that has been run hard in asphalt and the damage is below the segments, not on them. Asphalt slurry carries sand in suspension and scours the steel immediately beneath each segment until the shoulder thins and the segment eventually parts company with the core. That is undercutting, and it retires more asphalt blades than honest wear ever does.
Built for abrasive material
The Asphalt Pro carries undercut protection — sacrificial wear segments set below the cutting segments — together with a hard bond matched to the abrasiveness of asphalt and green concrete. Soft, gritty material pulls diamond straight out of a soft matrix; a hard matrix holds it until it is genuinely worn out.
Sizes and typical work
Eight diameters, 14″ to 36″, spanning handheld saws through large walk-behind road saws. The work it is bought for: utility trench cuts across a live road, full-depth pavement repair, milling boundary cuts, and municipal patching where a 30″ or 36″ blade takes the full depth in a single pass.
Run wet or dry. Asphalt cuts cooler and clears faster wet, but dry cutting is unavoidable on much handheld work — keep the blade moving and never dwell in one place, which softens the binder and packs the gullets solid. Browse asphalt blades, or read silica dust control and OSHA Table 1.
