Description
Surface prep is measured in square feet per hour, and the thing that kills that number is not the grinder — it is stopping every few minutes because the wheel has loaded up. A turbo cup wheel is designed around keeping the swarf moving.
Turbo segments and why they clear
The continuous turbo profile carries angled channels between the diamond ridges. Ground concrete produces a fine, dense dust that will pack a flat-faced wheel solid within a minute; those channels give it somewhere to go, so the cutting face stays exposed and the wheel keeps taking material at the same rate through the whole job.
Sizes, fit and typical jobs
Four sizes — 4″, 4.5″, 5″ and 7″ — threaded for a standard angle grinder. Use a 4.5″ or 5″ for edge work, corners and stair treads where you need to see what you are doing, and a 7″ for open floor area. Common work: knocking down form lines and high spots on a slab, feathering a patch flush, keying a surface before an epoxy or overlay goes down, and cleaning up a concrete step.
A medium bond covers both concrete and general masonry. Grinding concrete dry is one of the highest silica-exposure tasks on any site: use a shroud and a vacuum, and check OSHA Table 1. For heavy coating removal, step up to the Double Row Cup Wheel, or see all cup wheels.
